Tanzanian mobile operator Yas, fintech company Mixx by Yas, and the East Africa Commercial and Logistics Center (EACLC) have signed a partnership agreement to establish Tanzania’s first integrated digital business hub at EACLC in Dar es Salaam.
The hub aims to provide advanced digital infrastructure and mobile financial services to over 2,000 businesses.
The agreement was signed on 23rd June 2025, to create a fully digital business environment within the new EACLC complex, a four-floor building covering 75,000 square meters with more than 2,000 business spaces and 1,000 parking slots.
Under the partnership, Yas will invest over TZS 1 billion in high-speed fibre optic internet infrastructure to serve all businesses operating within the center.
The aim is to deliver reliable, high-speed connectivity to support the operations of businesses and enable the use of modern digital tools.
Mixx by Yas will provide mobile financial services including digital payments, credit, insurance, payroll, and income management, all accessible via mobile phones.
The digital platform will allow tenants to conduct transactions such as paying rent, processing salaries, paying suppliers, and making real-time payments through the Mixx system.
Agent networks for cash-in and cash-out, as well as a full-service Yas outlet, will be available within the EACLC building.
All services will fully comply with national regulations, data protection requirements, and anti-money-laundering standards.
Onboarding, training, and ongoing customer support will be provided to ensure all tenants can use the digital solutions confidently.
The phased rollout of digital services will begin with the first and second floors in July 2025, with full digital coverage for all floors targeted by early 2026.
Pierre Canton-Bacara, CEO of Yas, stated: “Today’s signing demonstrates our commitment to connecting people and businesses nationwide through world-class digital infrastructure. Our investment of more than TZS 1 billion will ensure stable voice and data services throughout the EACLC, supporting seamless business activities and positioning the centre as a model for economic growth.”
Angelica Pesha, CEO of Mixx by Yas, said: “This partnership is about building a future where doing business is fast, easy, and cashless. With services like Lipa Kwa Simu, real-time payroll, and in-house training and customer support, we are making everyday transactions more secure, transparent, and accessible for all tenants.”
Cathy Wang, Managing Director of EACLC, stated: “We are not just building a commercial centre, but a community of innovative businesses. Working with Yas and Mixx by Yas ensures we have the technology and expertise to make the EACLC a leading hub for digital business, not only in Tanzania but across the region.”
The EACLC complex will host not only offices and retail spaces but also facilities for customs, banks, logistics companies, and various other service providers.
The project aims to support the inclusion of Tanzanian entrepreneurs in the digital era, serving both small businesses and large enterprises.
