Tanzania will host the prestigious World Travel Awards (WTA) Africa & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony 2025 on 28 June in Dar es Salaam, reinforcing the country’s leadership in regional tourism.
The event marks the opening leg of the WTA 2025 Grand Tour, which will also include regional ceremonies in Mexico, Saint Lucia, Hong Kong, Italy, and the UAE, before concluding with a Grand Final in Bahrain.
World Travel Awards ceremonies are regarded as key networking events in the international tourism calendar, bringing together government and industry leaders, media, and influencers from across the travel and hospitality sectors.
Graham Cooke, Founder of World Travel Awards, said: “I am honoured that Tanzania is the Official Host Destination of our Africa & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony 2025. The decision reflects why Tanzania is one of Africa’s fastest-growing tourist nations and continues to set records for economic contribution and visitor spend. I look forward to welcoming travel industry leaders from across Africa and the Indian Ocean to experience its many charms and incredible adventures.”
Ephraim Mafuru, Director General of the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB), commented: “We are delighted and proud to host the WTA Africa & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony 2025 here in Tanzania on 28 June. This is a unique opportunity to showcase our country’s breathtaking landscapes, vibrant cultures and world-class hospitality to key figures in the travel and tourism sector. Tanzania is more than a destination – it is an experience that leaves a lasting impression, and we look forward to sharing this with the world.”
Tanzania has a strong track record at the World Travel Awards.
