Tanzania Receives USD 210 Million for Road Upgrade from World Bank

Tanzania is due to receive USD 210 Million by the World Bank’s International Development Association (IDA) to upgrade the highway connecting Mafinga and Igawa, in the Iringa and Mbeya regions.

The Highway was upgraded in 1972 to bitumen standard.

Since then the road has deteriorated drastically due to pavement ageing.

The loan will also be used to upgrade the Songwe-Kasumulu roads to foster Tanzanian trade with neighbouring countries.
