Tanzania Steel Manufacturer Expands Operations In Mozambique

Tanzania-based steel manufacturer, Motisun Group has announced that it has moved to the final stages of construction for its new mini-steel mill in Nacala, Mozambique.

The Motisun Group currently operates similar mills for the production and manufacturing of steel in Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia and is expanding to Mozambique through its subsidiary, MM Integrated Steel Mills Mozambique.

In a recent interview with East African Business Week, the spokesperson for MM Integrated Steel Mills Tanzania, Abubakar Mlawa,  declined to disclose the final cost of the project of the launch date for the Nacala plant, but indicated that the company is already considering future expansion projects.

“We have such plants in Uganda, Zambia and Tanzania and we may need to expand more,” he said.

Motisun Group is a privately owned business with various manufacturing companies across Tanzania, Zambia, Uganda and Mozambique covering a number of sectors including steel and roofing products, mining and power; cement; plastic tanks and pipes; hospitality; paint; industrial products; beverage and food processing; as well as construction and logistics.
