The French-Tanzanian Chamber of Commerce (FTCC) is set to host a Tax Workshop for Non-Resident Companies on 31st October 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM at Peninsula Hotel in Dar es Salaam.

Specifically tailored for non-resident businesses, this event aims to provide essential insights into the tax landscape in Tanzania, deepen their understanding of local tax regulations, and enhance their operational strategies in the country.

The workshop will feature expert presentations from Maurel & Prom, focusing on critical topics relevant to non-resident companies.

The first session will delve into taxation issues, including withholding tax, double tax agreements, and the implications of permanent establishment rules.

Participants will also learn about the necessity of maintaining audited financial statements for compliance purposes.

In the second segment, attendees will receive guidance on navigating the registration requirements with key Tanzanian authorities such as the Business Registrations and Licensing Agency (BRELA), the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA), and the National Social Security Fund (NSSF). This portion will also cover the steps needed to obtain necessary business licenses.

The final part of the workshop will address tax compliance for resident companies, providing an overview of obligations such as corporate income tax, VAT, and other regulatory requirements.

Maryam Omary, Compliance and Regulatory Advisor at Maurel & Prom will be leading the workshop. She will facilitate discussions and address questions regarding the Tanzanian tax regime.

The workshop will be held in person, but a video conference option will be available for those unable to attend physically and can connect through this link.

Tanzania Inflation Stayed at 3.4% in September 2025 with Food Prices Easing to 7.0%

The annual headline inflation rate in Tanzania remained stable at 3.4% in September 2025, while annual food and non-alcoholic beverages inflation eased to 7.0%. Between August and September 2025, prices of specific goods such as cocoyams (+8.9%), sweet potatoes (+7.6%), industrially bred live chicken (+5.0%), dried peas (+4.0%), and sorghum flour (+3.6%) recorded the largest monthly increases, driving the overall rise in the National Consumer Price Index to 119.86.
